Having been in love with the cinema ever since hearing the first utterance of “What’s up Doc?” Mark soon began spending whole afternoons in the front row of The Orson Wells Movie House in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Time after time, he would fixate on the wonderful stories flickering on the silver screen, putting his own spin on the stories of that wove his youth.

Although the world of technology and computer science landed him a stable career, Pollack has been increasing drawn back to the images of his youth. For many years, Mark worked as a professional photographer, traveling the world and working on his art. After a time, he was bitten by the acting bug and drawn to the theatrical stage. Appearances in James Thurber's The Male Animal and the farce Lend Me A Tenor have met with very pleasing reviews. More recently Mark has starred in Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.

Between stage works, though, Mark has returned to his talents of manipulating imagery with photography. Pollack’s debut as lighting director came about in 2003 with the theatrical release of Fourplay, a black comedy set amongst the tableau of four men unknowingly duped by the same girlfriend. The same year also brought Mark into the fold of Dr. Deadly’s Theatre Of Horrors’ crew as lighting director. His background in photographing moody, disturbing subject matter comes through his work on DDTH’s set, manipulating a level of psychological tension and morose drama.

"Horror movies are the best!" Pollack exclaimed. "I loved sitting in front of the TV on a Friday night, watching Creature Feature and waiting to be scared out of my wits. It didn't happen very much, but I still remember those old movies with a lot of affection."

Mark can currently be seen on stage in Ira Levin's Deathtrap and issuing opinions regarding the Second Law of Thermodynamics
