aka Dr. Acacias Ravenscroft This not-so-good doctor developed his love for old horror movies as a child while traveling the globe with his archeologist parents. From country to country, Acacias was privileged to sample great cinemas: from London to Berlin, Moscow to Peking. Possessing a great curiosity and a flair for the morbid, the young boy demonstrated a fondness for the suspense, thriller and horror pictures produced throughout the Great Depression. A keen intellect afforded Acacias admittance to an Austrian medical school before the war. There he soon met and fell in love with his future wife. After university, the two went into research work, but their happiness was to be short lived. One afternoon Acacias’ wife was killed when the clinic she supervised was bombed by a radical group. Devastated at his loss, Dr. Ravenscroft vowed to take revenge and set out to annihilate each extremist responsible for her murder. In the ensuing years, the medical and scientific community were forced to distance themselves from the once-regarded physician. With his body of research dismissed as the ravings of a mad man, his privileges at the University were revoked and inevitably expelled from the hospital his family founded 200 hence. All that he had loved and all he had worked for was now lost forever. Ravenscroft went into a psychotic tail spin; his psyche permanantly scarred. What emerged from the disaster was the decay of a twisted and tormented persona. Somewhere in the dusty corners of a forgotten childhood were the shadowy memories of those long and dark nights a generation past, watching Karloff, Lugosi, Atwill reek havoc! In a single night, Dr. Acacias Ravenscroft discarded his former moniker and embraced a new wraith: Dr. Deadly. Never again will this man bow to the needing, the beautiful, the tender! With his new existence firmly planted in the soil of the undead, Dr. Deadly took residence in the family's abandoned estate: the Hibernaculum. High in the hills of the Mortal Pit, Dr. Deadly would again take up his illicit research in natural philosophy, that science forbidden for centuries by God and crown. His sadistic and tormented soul forever fed on a lifetime of nitrate nightmares. Ah, hahahaha! |
