The Lycanthrope Of all the denizens at the Hibernaculum, Galen is the least known or understood. For months after his arrival, all that could be gleaned was that he and Dr. Deadly’s assistants Karl, were brothers. It was evident from his first day in the lab that Karl and Galen never saw eye-to-eye; Karl insinuating there was unfinished differences between the men. Their problems would never be resolved, for misfortune soon struck: Karl unexplainably disappeared. At the behest of Dr. Deadly, Galen agreed to remain on as his brother’s replacement. After the void that Karl’s absence made was filled, life around the estate began to look more promising...until the morning Galen and the blue witch Cerullea crossed paths. In an act of deceit, Galen angered Cerullea and her sister Beryllia. Cerullea lashed out that night and placed Galen under the same vexation as his brother. When the full moon rose at the end of the week, Galen unexpectedly found himself wracked with the transformational pain of a werewolf. For a season the villagers had thought they had rid themselves of the killing beast which had been thinning the livestock and its people. But that was not to be the case. Unlike his brother, Galen did not share Karl's distaste for the horror the curse brought. He came to love the hunt...the chase… the taste of warm, sweet blood as he indesciminately killed. In leveling what was thought be a damnable curse, Cerullea inadvertently blessed a man with a monstrous benediction. Where Karl was once easy to control with his certainty of the full moon, Galen has become a pariah amongst even the heinous and faulted. |
